I'm not sure I can express in words just how excited I am about Sarah Palin being on the Republican ticket for VP. The energy and enthusiasm she brings to this campaign is overwhelming. You can feel it anywhere politics is being discussed. Conservatives are all electrified, completely pysched about what they feel is an inspired choice. Liberals, on the other hand, are just acting smug. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the phrase "picking that nutjob was such a stupid move", usually followed by peals of laughter. My response is just to smile and say "we'll see in November".
How out of touch can you be? While they are laughing, Sarah Palin is helping the McCain pull in campaign money hand over fist, as well as win over undecided voters. The far left is so isolated, so involved in their own bubble that they can't fathom why Sarah Palin has caused such a dramatic swing in campaign momentum. She's a small town, pro-life, less spending, woman with a large family and a pregnant daughter? How laughable. She didn't even attend an Ivy League School! This mindset is exactly what is going to cost the Democrats the election.
What these liberals fail to realize is that Sarah Palin is an inspired choice for VP not
despite those attributes but
because of them. Conservatives love her because she is one of them-a fiscally responsible, family values, pro-domestic drilling, blue-blooded American. But this is only one reason why Sarah Palin is creating such a huge wave in the political waters.
The real reason is because her ideas and her persona represent regular Americans and their values. Regular Americans have family problems, they're in the PTA, they're soccer moms and dads, they pull themselves up from small circumstances to do great things. When the left attack Bristol Palin's pregnancy, they are attacking the daughters of Americans everywhere because Americans see in the Palin family a reflection of their own
family. When the left attack her record as a PTA mom turned Mayor turned Governor, they are attacking every American who has pulled themselves up to a better place, despite adversity.
The left call Sarah Palin a "right wing nutjob" because of her strong conservative views. Regular Americans look at her views on abortion, domestic drilling and family values and find that they agree with her on many of them. Polls show that Americans overwhelmingly support domestic oil drilling, are just about evenly split on abortion and are tipped heavily in favor of conservative family values. Does this mean that the majorities of the people in those polls are "right wing nutjobs"? I'm reminded of that old saying about playing poker-if you're sitting at a poker table and can't tell who the sucker is, then it's probably you.
So keep on laughing guys. As McCain's lead continues to grow and people keep putting up more and more money to help him win, keep on laughing. Keep on saying how Sarah Palin is "just a big joke". Come November, we'll see who the joke is really on.
